JJ’s long-kept secret finally revealed (Video)

Jerry John Rawlings has been known for his charisma as a military man who morphed into a civilian President of Ghana.

The former pilot is even known more for his series of coups, which intermittently catapulted him to power from 1979 to 2000.

He has said on certain public platforms that he nursed a dream of becoming a priest at a point in his life, despite his childhood dream of becoming a pilot.

Despite being an imposing public figure, known in Ghana and outside, Mr Rawlings has, until now, managed to keep close to his chest, one passion of his – drawing.

“You may not believe it but I’d much rather be known as an artist than as a president, just as I’d much rather probably be known for my flying skills than being a president,” Mr Rawlings said in a recently produced documentary by CCTV Africa dubbed: ‘Faces of Africa, the Jerry Rawlings story.’

“Maybe it’s because through this [displaying one of his handiworks] you see my power of observation, my sense of precision, my striving for excellence.

“I don’t know where you found this, but the point is I’ve kept quiet about this thing because I haven’t done my wife’s portrait yet. If I’ve done my wife’s portrait also, I would have felt good about displaying this,” he told CCTV Africa.
