Security man remanded over hard drugs

A private security man allegedly found with a quantity of dried leaves, suspected to be cannabis, has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

Richard Antwi, alias “Rasta,” whose plea was not taken, would make his next appearance on Monday, March 16.

Police Chief Inspector Gulliver Tenkorang, told the court presided over by Mr. William Boampong, that the accused person was arrested at his Amanfrom work place by officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service on June 26, last year.

They acted upon a tip-off and that 18 wrappers of the stuff were seized from him.

The prosecution said, Antwi in his caution statement, confessed to the crime and mentioned one Atta at Adoato, a suburb of Kumasi, as his source of supply.

Meanwhile, samples of the substance had been sent for forensic laboratory examination as the Police continued to hunt for the said supplier.
