Association In 15 Million Cedis School Project

Ningo (Greater Accra Region), 13 Oct. The Ningo Youth Association (NYA) is building a three-classroomed block, estimated at about 15 million cedis, for the district council primary school at Old Ningo. Mr Nathan Akwetey, interim chairman of the association, said they are undertaking the project through communal labour and voluntary contributions of members. He said they started the project with 500,000 cedis they realised during a fund raising rally and 40 bags of cement donated by some members. The NYA aims to improve the quality of life for residents and fostering peace and unity among the people. Madam Maku Apektey, women’s organiser of NYA, said the town lacks social amenities like a market, a recreational centre and places of convenience. She said the women are particularly pleased with the classroom project because some parents fear to allow their children to learn in the old dilapidated school building.
