A leading member of pro-opposition pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), Arnold Boateng, has revealed that graduate members of the group find it difficult to secure jobs because of their association with the organisation.
According to him, corporate Ghana is often reluctant to employ known members of the group for fear of victimisation by the government.
Boateng told Starr FM on Tuesday that although he personally succeeded with several interviews after schooling, employers deliberately refused to grant him jobs.
“When I returned from the UK and started AFAG, I couldn’t find a job.
“Anywhere I went looking for a job, they told me in the face: ‘You guys are attacking government and you want us to employ you?;”
“If your name pops up anywhere and AFAG is attached to it, you will succeed with interviews, but they will not pick you.
“Most of the young guys who joined the group five years after school…still can’t secure jobs,” he stated.
He, however, noted that the situation will not deter them from pursuing their objective of demanding good governance from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
The Pressure group, which has been in existence for over eight years, has members from the various opposition parties in the country.
