Jomoro district records 17 fire cases

The Jomoro District recorded one death in 17 fire cases that occurred last year, the District Fire Officer has said.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini, Division Officer III Joseph Buabae said the fires were made up of 13 domestics, two electrical and one each vehicular and bush.

He said the Jomoro District Assembly has been able to repair the Fire Tender at the cost of 950 Ghana cedis after nine months grounding.

The Power Activator of the Tender got damaged and took them over nine months before the Assembly was able to assist them.

According to him the long grounding of the Fire Tender made it impossible for the Service to respond to fire outbreaks and appealed to the people to be careful when handling fire.

He said in the fire incidents, a four-year-old boy was burnt to death when a room in which he and some other brothers were sleeping caught fire.

A final year Home Economics Student from the Half Assini Senior High lost all her school materials including books, dresses and materials for her practical examination when razed the four rooms of her parents.
