The Assemblies of God Liberty- Centre at Sunyani, together with the Sangy Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Accra, have renovated the Nwasua M/A Primary and Junior High Schools in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The facelift were done on a two-classroom block and two offices of the schools.
Mrs Sara Nana Yeboah, Vice President and co-Founder of the NGO at a brief handing over ceremony, said the project involved cementing of the floor of the classrooms, re-fixing of doors and windows as well as re-painting of the entire block at an undisclosed cost.
She explained that the church identified the needs of one deprived community in the region, and her outfit solicited support in cash and kind from individuals and corporate bodies.
Mrs Yeboah said the gesture was in line with the organisation’s aim of improving education and health in deprived areas in the country.
She said Sangy Foundation has covered six out of the ten regions with similar assistance within the past three years and said Ashanti, Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions would soon have their turn.
She said the Foundation would not rest on its oars until all dilapidated schools around the country were duly renovated, stating that, poor infrastructural facilities and poor health were an affront to effective teaching and learning and retards the total development of humanity.
“Our main focus is to provide good environment to improve education and health conditions of our people, especially those in deprived areas of the country. All Ghanaians must be part of the solution of the problems,” she said.
Rev Joseph Danquah, Head Pastor of Assemblies of God – Liberty Centre, said the gesture was in fulfillment of the great commission from Christ to his followers to make disciples of all nations.
He said it was not enough to preach the gospel of salvation to mankind but going the extra mile to meet some physical and material needs as well, hence the church’s partnership with Sangy Foundation in that regard.
Rev Danquah urged members of the community to take good care of the facility in order to enjoy its maximum benefits.
Receiving the keys to the renovated schools, Mr Japon Joseph Nnob, Headmaster of the school, expressed gratitude to the church and Sangy Foundation for their noble gesture.
He asked for more of such assistance from other well-meaning Ghanaians.
He said under the current global dispensation, education is the best legacy that any serious nation could give to posterity.
