Police in the Upper West Region are investigating the killing of an Aspiring Assembly member in the upcoming District level elections.

The deceased who hails from the Eggu Electoral Area was shot dead by assailants on Thursday night.

Robert Salia suffered multiple shots and died instantly in what family members suspect may be a robbery attack.

The deceased, 42, who is also a teacher at ST Cecilia JHS was shot between Eggu and Charia in the Wa Municipality between 8 and 9pm.

The motorbike, on which he rode before the assault, was taken away leaving his lifeless body in the middle of a road.
