PPP fumes over SOTN snub in Parliament

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has taken a swipe at Parliament over its refusal to invite them to witness the President’s State of the Nation Address on Thursday.

According to the National Secretary, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, it is an affront to the PPP that no official invitation was sent to it under the pretext that the party has no representation in parliament.

The statement added that such decision by the House is “disappointing and discriminatory”.

It asks that such introduction of unconstitutional elements by governmental, State or public institutions to discriminate against some political parties must stop.

“The role of the PPP in sustaining the multi-party democratic process in the country cannot be overlooked,” the statement said.

It therefore urged Parliament to ensure at all times, a level playing field for all political parties and not to give priority to only parties with representation in Parliament.
