Mahama presents State of Nation address today

Barring any last minute hitch, President John Dramani Mahama would today present the state of the Nation’s address to Parliament. Although no details of his address have been given, Ghana News Agency (GNA) sources at the Flagstaff House indicate that President Mahama would focus on the current power crisis that had plunged the country into prolonged hours of darkness.

He is expected to state what government was doing under the circumstances to reverse the current trend and measures put in place to avoid the future recurrence of the phenomenon.

President Mahama is also expected to touch on education, with much attention on the construction of the 200 new Day Senior High Schools in deprived communities throughout the country.

On agriculture and industry, President Mahama is expected to state government’s plans towards increased productivity, value addition to raw commodities and plans to stem the importation of goods the country has comparative advantage in producing.

The President would also touch on measures to address challenges to health care delivery throughout the country.

The sources told the GNA that the address would also touch on science and technology, details on the International Monetary Fund engagement, trade and commerce and social interventions that would improve the living standards of all Ghanaians.
