Christian Businessmen Urged To Show The Way In Honest Business Practices

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 10, Oct. A three-day West African Regional conference of the International Christian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) today opened in Accra with a call on entrepreneurs to do honest business. Mr Sam Boateng, National President of ICCC, said Christian businessmen need to reconsider their way of conducting business. ICCC is made up of Christian business executives and has representatives in over 65 countries. The conference, with the theme ”The emergence of a new generation of Christian entrepreneurs and professionals” is to train Christian business executives to respond to the biblical challenge of a walk with Christ in the market place. The 200 participants were drawn from Ghana, the United Kingdom, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mr Boateng said in the face of increasing turmoil and confusion, the business executives need to come together for strength and inspiration. Mr Boateng expressed the hope that at the end of the three days of deliberations, important ”spiritual altars and pillars” would have been erected and resources released for the economic development of the countries. Mr Steve Okitika, West African Co-ordinator, said Africa has cried over poverty for too long and ”it is time to utilise our rich resources to make the continent a better place”. Mr Michael Fenton Jones, International President, said Ghanaian business executives have a crucial role to play in the development of Africa and advised them to seek God’s guidance in all their endeavours.
