Unemployed jailed three years for theft

An unemployed man, arrested over a laptop computer theft, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Bibiani Circuit Court.

Nurudin Tain, 20, was convicted after he pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry, causing damage and stealing.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emma Nadoma-Abokyi told the court, presided over by Mr. Kwadwo Baptist Kwadwo Filson, that the crime was committed at the Bibiani Zongo, on January, 22 at about 2100 hours.

The complainant, Foster Amponsah, had traveled to Kumasi, when Tain took advantage of the situation to break into his room to steal a laptop computer, Nokia and Motorola phones, valued at about GH¢1,475.

He detected the theft on his return and decided to conduct his own investigations leading to arrest the convict, prosecution said.
