Kasoa women group receives government loan

Madam Sophia Monney, President of the ‘Nyame Bekyere Korye Kuw’ of the Roman Catholic Zone, Kasoa, on Friday said women in the association had received the sum of 100 million cedis loan under the government micro project assistance programme.

She said the amount, meant to help women in their small-scale business were paid through the Agona Rural Bank Limited which released 60 million cedis, while the Awutu Emasa Rural Bank released 40 million cedis.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Madam Monney said the amount had been disbursed to members of the association, and expressed the hope that they would use it to expand their trades.

She said the government’s policy of positive change was real, citing the release of the money to the association as a “clear testimony” of an effort to raise the economic status of women in the country.

She said the money was given to women irrespective of their political leanings.

Madam Effiah, Treasurer of the association, appealed to the recipients to pay back the loans so that others would also benefit.
