Ashanti GES embezzles Ghc4m; district director indicted

The Ashanti Regional Educational Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has set up a committee to investigate the embezzlement of over 4 million Ghana cedis in one district.

The money which was meant for the running of educational activities was channeled into private accounts of the district director and some staff.

Regional Director of Education Safo Kantanka toldStarr News that about 2 million Cedis have been retrieved from the indicted officials.

“There is a case in one of my districts where over 4 million has been pocketed by the Directorate, the director himself is involved, and we have set up a regional disciplinary committee to deal with it.

“So far we have collected over 2 million cedis with the support of the BNI, so I am going to correct a lot of wrongs,” Kantanka said.
