Striking nurses and midwives of the Tamale Teaching Hospital are likely to resume work today, that’s according to the Northern regional branch chairman of the Nurses and Midwives association of Ghana, Musah Salifu.
He told Starr News Thursday they are considering calling off their one-day strike after reaching an amicable solution to their grievances with the hospital’s management.
The nurses boycotted work Thursday in protest against “poor” accommodation arrangements at the hospital.
They said their action was triggered by the management’s decision to eject two of their colleagues form their official apartments. They also claim that a number of them have not been allocated with an official accommodation.
But speaking to Bernard Nassara Saibu on Starr Today, Salifu indicated that they have been able to reach an agreement with the management of the hospital.
“We have received a letter from the executive officers office and we have called for a general meeting [today] to discuss with our members and discuss the content of the agreement we had with management.
“I believe that, with what is contained in the letter, when we meet our members, they would also see reason to call off the strike,” he noted.
