Chief denies misuse of stool funds

Nana Kofi Adjei IV, Chief of Adum-Kwanwoma in the Atwima-Kwanwoma district, has denied misusing the stool funds of the traditional area.

Rather, he said, the community had seen unprecedented infrastructural development during his 22 years on the stool.

Speaking at a media conference at Kwanwoma, on Tuesday, in reaction to allegations of misuse of funds from the sale of stool lands in the community, Nana Adjei outlined a number of development projects he said he had undertaken since he was installed in 1993.

They include the construction of a clinic, expansion of electricity supply, provision of potable water that had significantly reduced water borne diseases in the community as well as the road network and places of convenience, he said.

Nana Adjei said the performance of junior high students at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) had improved tremendously as a result of the sponsorship of extra classes for final year pupils over the years.

A senior high school had also been started in the community while tracts of land had been earmarked for the construction of a university, a bank and a police station in the town.

The Chief stated that another mechanized borehole estimated at GH¢ 50, 000.00 would soon be constructed at the Kwanwoma Boys Senior High School to ease the water problem.

Nana Adjei, who is also the Duchene Gyaasehene, said the accusations were calculated attempts by his opponents to incite the people against him, and to cause unnecessary tension in the community.

He said the Traditional Council was mindful of the infrastructural needs of the community to improve the living conditions of the people and would not relent in an effort to solicit development projects for the people.

Nana Adjei called on the people to rally behind him and the Traditional Council to undertake projects that would speed up the development of the community.
