Car washer jailed for sodomy

A Circuit Court at Sunyani on Friday sentenced a 22-year-old car washer, Yaw Kyei, to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for sodomy.

He pleaded guilty to defiling a 10-year-old boy.

Police Inspector Setina Aboagye told the court presided over by Mr G.H.K Debrah that both the accused and the victim lived at New Town, a suburb of Sunyani.

She said in February this year at about 7.30 hours, whilst the boy was playing with his friends in front of a house, Kyei asked the him (victim) to accompany (kyei) to collect money from someone.

Insp. Aboagye said the victim and the convict went to a nearby school after he (Aboagye) promised to give the victim a toy and a bicycle.

She said Kyei dragged the boy into a urinal and sexually assaulted him through the anus and warned him not tell the mother.

Insp. Aboagye said Kyei sent the boy to the Sunyani Civic Centre, repeated the sexual assault.

She said a month later, the boy fell sick but refused to say what he was suffering from because he was afraid he would die if he told anybody of the ordeal he went through as Kyei made the victim to understand.

Insp. Aboagye said two weeks ago, when the victim saw the accused Person, he remarked to his playmates: “this is the man who likes having sex with young boys through their anus.”

She said the statement provoked Kyei, who reported the matter to the victim’s mother.

The victim narrated the ordeal he went through and said it was the cause of his sickness, when the mother asked him why he made the remark.

Insp Aboagye said the convict admitted that he committed the offence and pleaded for forgiveness when he was arrested.
