Manhyia begs K’si journalists over ‘inhumane treatment’

The Manhyia Palace has apologised to journalists in the Ashanti region who are fuming over the treatment meted out to them by some staff at the palace.

The journalists have resolved to boycott events at the palace until the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II meets them over their concerns.

But speaking to Starr News Monday, the special assistant to the Manhyia Chief of Staff Kwame Aboagye blamed the harassment of journalists during official programmes at the palace on some stool attendants, Linguists and Sub-Chiefs who are not well informed of the activities of journalists.

“We are very sorry for everything because for some time now, we’ve had a peaceful relationship with the media, and I think it’s good.

“In Manhyia when we have activities going on, it’s always difficult to check how the stool attendants behave towards journalists because they might not even know them. But we that we know them, we always treat them very well,” he stated.

He added that the palace authorities will discuss the matter and come out with an official position.

“We will sit down and look at things and come out with an official position. The media is the last people we would want to hurt”.
