GH¢900,000 fraud: Korle-Bu requires dedicated hands – Eddie Annan

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital must be put in the hands of dedicated individuals in order to rid the facility of malfeasance, former board chair of the health post Eddie Annan has stated.

The comments come on the back of the interdiction of the director of Pharmacy and nine other workers of the hospital for misappropriating over GHC946, 574.29 through bad procurement processes and collusion by suppliers of the hospital’s pharmacy.

A statement issued by the board of the hospital Thursday explained that the nine others who include the Pharmacy manager and other staff of the pharmacy are being investigated over the alleged financial malfeasance.

Speaking to Starr News, Mr Annan whose tenure at Korle Bu was plagued with allegations of financial indiscipline said the development is not surprising.

“Things have gone bad for years, it just didn’t start yesterday. And people were enjoying it so for anybody who comes to get rid of that, they (workers) are not happy with.

“Korle Bu needs dedicated a person. I can run Korle Bu; it’s not a big deal, if I can run the whole country, I can run Korle Bu.

“But you need the support of the people who are involved. I need support from the minister, I need support from the President and the support of Ghanaians,” he said.
