Korle Bu ex-workers duping patients – Akosa

A former Director General of the Ghana Health Service Prof Agyeman Badu Akosa has slammed the activities of some ex-workers of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, who he says, have turned themselves into “middlemen” at the health post.

“There is a group of people in Korle Bu, they have worked in Korle Bu, they have retired and they have become middlemen in Korle Bu.

“They will pick people’s folders almost as if they are ushering them into the Korle Bu and in doing that, they dupe them bigtime,” Akosah told a gathering at a book launch of his colleague physician Professor Frempong Boateng in Accra Wednesday.

He continued: “They do that to us in the mortuary, they do that to us in the wards, and they do that in the theater and because they know everybody, somehow they can make you jump the queue. They might help you do so many things, but for everything they do, you will pay”.

According to him, the former workers, although do not work at the facility, still dress as though they are still workers there.

He said until appropriate measures are taken to get rid of such practices at Ghana’s biggest health post, it will be difficult to ensure efficiency and transparency at the facility.
