Victory against Algeria showed resilience of Ghanaians – Mahama

President John Mahama has said the victory of the Black Stars against their Algerian counterparts Friday in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations is an indication that Ghanaians can “rise up to the occasion” if minded to do so.
Captain Asamoah Gyan’s last minute goal revived the Stars campaign for Africa’s most prestigious football glory after losing their opening game against Senegal.
The Al Ain striker was absent for the Group D game against Senegal after suffering with malaria.
However, he played the entirety of Friday’s contest in Mongomo and kept his composure with a cool finish in stoppage time to settle a tight contest 1-0.
Twitting to commend the Stars Saturday , the President said the game reflected the resilience of Ghanaians.
