The Chamber of Pharmacy Ghana has pledged its support to the Ministry of Health to help revamp the Tema Central Medical Stores that was razed down by fire on January 13, 2015.
According to the Chamber, it was ready to provide the needed technical assistance, as well as material resources, to address the challenges arising out of the incident. This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Anthony Ameka, on behalf of the National Executive Council, when he interacted with some journalists in Accra yesterday.
According to Mr. Ameka, his outfit was ready to support the Ministry of Health to review the list of pharmaceutical products destroyed. They are also ready to make a donation of some medical products that the country imports and manufactures locally.
He noted that the Chamber was also in the position to provide warehousing space to house all the products the country would import in the interim, while assisting the Ministry of Health to rebuild the Central Medical Stores. ”We will also avail ourselves and input into all discussions to seek long-term solutions to prevent any possible recurrence, as well as help find solutions that will lead to improvements in the pharmaceutical sector in Ghana and our sub-region,” he added.
