Nigeria’s Jonathan storms Ghana with election billboards

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan has stormed Ghana with his election campaign billboards.

Jonathan’s campaign billboards have popped up weeks after campaign billboards for opposition parties were sighted in parts of the capital, Accra.

Africa’s most populous nation goes to the polls on February 14 in an election many political watchers, including former UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, have described as crucial for the security of the state.

Jonathan’s campaign billboards spotted along the Danquah Circle and the Accra-Tema motorway were reportedly mounted by a group calling itself ‘Friends of Jonathan in the Diaspora’.

The huge billboards are targeted at the many Nigerians residing in Accra and other parts of the country.

President Jonathan who represents the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), will face off with former military head of state, Muhammad Buhari of the largest opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
