AFCON 2015: What went wrong for Ghana against Senegal?

The Black Stars of Ghana lost in their opening Group C match against the Teranga Lions of Senegal. They lost by 2 goals to 1.

Senegal took a big step towards qualifying for the knockout stages as Moussa Sow struck late in injury time to earn Senegal victory. The substitute scored with virtually the last kick of the game, slotting in from the edge of the box to snatch all three points for the Teranga Lions.

Andre Ayew scored a first-half penalty after Atsu was fouled. Senegal roared back and hit the bar through Kara Mbodj, before Stoke striker Mame Biram Diouf nodded in an equaliser and Sow wrapped up the win.

Senegal were the better team throughout the game and the three points deservedly won.

Ghanaians have expressed a loss of confidence in the entire team as some blame the lack of a formidable defense to hold tight the Ghana goal. Others believe some players do not deserve to be in the team, and the selection was a wreck.

Ghana Coach Avram Grant was not left out in the criticisms as many still have a soft spot for former coach Kwesi Appiah.
