Students to enjoy govt’s continued subventions on electricity

The Ministry of Education has assured students and the tertiary education community of government’s continued subvention on electricity usage.

A statement signed by Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Education Minister, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday, said the Ministry had become aware of statements that had been issued by some student representative councils expressing anxiety about what they had described as actions by government to withdraw subventions on electricity usage.

“This Ministry will like to assure all students and the tertiary education community that no such decision has been taken by government. We are seeking to engage the Electricity Company of Ghana and other stakeholders to fully appreciate any new plans for the sector,” it said.

“We, however, wish to assure all students that our doors remain open to them as always on this and any other matter,” the statement said.
