DCE denies allegations of bribery against her

Madam Elizabeth Owusu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ejura-Sekyedumasi, has denied allegations of bribery, levelled against her by some members of the district branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She described the allegation as baseless and unfounded which should be treated with all the contempt it deserves.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Ejura on her stance about the allegations contained in a petition written by some ‘disgruntled members of the constituency of the NPP’ and forwarded to the office of the President.

The petition which called for the removal of the DCE from office, accused her of allegedly bribing Mr S.K. Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister with an amount of 15 million cedis to help secure her the position of DCE.

This apart, the petitioners also accused the DCE of being more sympathetic to National Democratic Congress (NDC) members as against NPP members.

Madam Owusu stated clearly, “I was nominated as DCE on my own merit and had delivered to the satisfaction of the masses and never on the basis of influencing any one with money or gifts for the post.”

On the issue of being sympathetic to NDC members, the DCE explained that she interacted closely with NDC members just as she did with members of the NPP in a bid to win them to the fold of the NPP.
