Fake nurse in deep waters

When 20-year-old Kwaku James decided to enter the nursing profession illegally, little did he know he would be sweating before a court of law later.

The unemployed young man who had been posing as a nurse with the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman run out of luck when he was questioned by some workers on duty who found him hanging around the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Hospital on 29th December, 2014.

He told the workers that he was a student of Dunkwa Offinso Assistant Health Nurse School, and had been posted to the hospital to do his clinical.

The workers who observed him closely realized he had no knowledge whatsoever of the nursing profession and decided to hand him over to hospital management, who in turn conducted an investigation.

They realized he was not on clinical attachment to the hospital, neither is he a student of the nursing training institution he had mentioned.

He was handed over to the Techiman Police and arraigned before court.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against him and was convicted on his own plea, and sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labor by the court.
