Accountability needed in national leadership – Pastor

Pastor Isaac Siaw Lartey, Dome District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, has reminded national leaders to be accountable to the people in the use of the country’s resources.

He said the nation is endowed with many natural resources which should have positively transformed the lives of the citizenry, but the opposite were in abject poverty and hardships.

Pastor Lartey gave the reminder in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Sunday at the Dome (Central) branch of the Church of Pentecost in Accra.

He urged the national leaders to be truthful to the people because one day God would call them to account for their stewardship.

“Why should Ghanaians go through economic difficulties while God has blessed the nation with much rich mineral resources,” he asked.

Pastor Lartey encouraged Ghanaians to put their hope in God and advised them to shun negative tendencies such as fornication, idol worshiping and other sins, and be faithful for God to lead the nation through 2015 and beyond.

Touching on corruption, the District Pastor said: “a nation does not become corrupt but the people entrusted to manage are the perpetrators of the act” and therefore cautioned them to desist from it.

“We should avoid taking things which do not belong to us by force, while we also put a stop to cheating, stealing, persecution and lies that would affect the peace of the country,” he said.

“Our inequities are causing the nation but if all of us are faithful and truthful the light of God will shine upon Ghana and the people will be successful in their endeavours,” Rev Lartey said.

He called on Christians to walk in the true life of God in whatever they do.
