The ruling National Democratic Congress has dismissed claims by legal practitioner, George Tetteh Wayoe, that he was a member of President John Mahama’s legal team during the 2012 election petition hearing.
Tetteh Wayoe who was seen on numerous media platforms defending the course of the President and the NDC during the eight-months long Supreme Court hearing claims he spent over GHC70, 000 doing the media job.
He has appealed to President John Mahama to refund the cost of his services to the party to enable him take care of his family.
But speaking to Citi Fm, Friday, a Deputy General Secretary of the governing party George Lawson said the claims are baseless and shocking to the party.
According to him, the party allowed the young lawyer to speak on its behalf because they saw it as an opportunity for him to develop himself.
“Nobody appointed him as a member of the NDC’s legal team and he is not a member of the President’s legal team.
“Even TV3 wanted to kick him out at a point and he came looking for my blessing and I said if he is doing the work, he should just carry on.
“The President has not appointed him and the party has not either,” Lawson stated.
He said Tetteh Wayoe could at best be described as a sympathizer of the party and not a member of its legal committee.
