17 Prisons superior officers promoted

President John Mahama, acting on the advice of the Prisons Service Council, has approved of the promotion of 17 Superior Officers of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The promotions take effect from January 1, 2015.

A statement signed by DSP Vitalis A-Iyeh, Chief Public Relations Officer, said Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Minna Ahwa-Yankey has been promoted to Deputy Director-General of Prisons in charge of Administration while Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Mike Owusu-Amponsah has been promoted to Deputy Director-General of Prisons in charge of Operations.

It said five Deputy Directors of Prisons (DDP) were also promoted to the rank of Director of Prisons (DOP).

They are DDP Kwame Ackom Gyedu, DDP Stephen Cofie, DDP Patrick Darko Missah, DDP Emmanuel Yao Adzator and DDP Mrs Emma Dilys Sawyerr-Laryea

According to the statement, 10 Assistant Directors of Prisons (ADP) were also elevated to the rank of Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP).

They include ADP Blewusi Victor Agbelengor, ADP Cephas Mantey, ADP Robert Awolugutu, ADP Charity A. Magnusen (MRS), ADP Florence A. Appiah, and ADP Eric K. Hini.

The rest are ADP Isaac Kofi Egyir, ADP Nelson B. Duut, ADP Mrs Patience Baffoe-Bonnie and ADP Agbosu Mark Kofi Atsu.

Administration congratulates the officers on their promotion and wishes them God’s blessings and guidance for the task ahead of them,” it said.
