Update: Nayele cocaine hearing scheduled for Tuesday

The Isleworth Crown Court in the UK will decide the fate of Nayele Amatefe, the Ghanaian lady busted at the Heathrow Airport with 12kg of cocaine last year, tomorrow.

She was originally scheduled to make an appearance today, January 5, 2015 but the case has rather been listed for Tuesday.

The 32-year-old is believed to have used the VVIP Lounge of Ghana’s only international airport – Kotoka – in the capital Accra to smuggle the prohibited substance outside the shores of the West African country via a British Airways flight.

According to preliminary investigations, she was aided by three Ghanaian security and foreign affairs officials who are also standing trial in Ghana.

Ruby Adu-Gyamfi, as Amatefe is popularly called, has pleaded guilty during her maiden hearing via a video conference from prisons.

The judge is expected to give the ruling on the case later today. Angel – her other moniker – is likely to spend a maximum of 15 years in jail.
