Orphanage International fetes children

Orphanage International Ministry (OIM), a religious Non-Governmental Organisation, on Saturday, held a party for about 500 children in some orphanages in Accra and Tema.

The children, from the Fafraha Foster Home, Tema S.O.S, Osu Children’s Home, Madina Hallowing Home, and Handy Evangelism Home at Haastso, were given Bibles and other religious materials worth Ghc7, 000.00.

Pastor Samuel Ludwig Aferi, President of the Ministry, said the objective of the organisation was to lead the orphans to a better life in Christ through the Scriptures and to equip them academically, spiritually and morally to enable them to fit into the society.

He said in fulfillment of its mission, the OIM had identified and catered for a number of orphanages, including Teshie Orphanage, Kumasi Children’s Home, Islamic Orphanage Home, Kasoa, and Hugh International at Somanya.

Pastor Aferi said the OIM, with sponsorship from CAL Bank, offered scholarships to 30 orphans in the Greater Accra Region and expressed the hope that this would be extended to the other regions next year.

He said the National Orphans Sports Festival, which had been dormant for some time now, would resume next year at Ho to enable the orphans to socialise and bring their plights to the notice of the general public.

He said the OIM would organise extra classes for all orphanages under its jurisdiction to ensure that the children performed well in school to enable them to have a brighter future.

Miss Esther Boafo, Registrar of Valley View University, appealed to Ghanaians to support the Ministry to enable it to achieve its aim.
