‘This year will be difficult for ECOWAS’ – Hanna Tetteh

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hanna Tetteh has observed that this year will be difficult for the ECOWAS sub-region.

In her view, the impending elections in some of the member states of the Community will make things challenging for the body.

Africa’s biggest economy, Nigeria and other states within the sub-region have elections coming up later in the year.

Aside the deadly Ebola virus which has claimed over 8000 lives in the region, many other states are also bedeviled with internal uprising and civil strife.

In a tweet, Saturday, the former trades minister wrote: “This year will be challenging & interesting for the ECOWAS Region. Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo, Burkina Faso & Guinea will have elections “.
