Christians in Tamale thronged churches to herald new year

Christians in the Tamale Metropolis prayed and sang praises to God to usher in 2015 while others lit the sky with fireworks amidst shouts of jubilation.

The various churches the GNA visited had one common message of peace and prosperity for the congregation, the country and mankind.

Most of the churches were full with members dressed in white apparel.

The Reverend Father Thaddeus Kuusah, Acting Parish Priest of the Sacred Heart Parish of the Catholic Church urged Christians to appreciate the many blessings God had showered upon them throughout the past year as He continue to intercede for the nation.

He explained that despite the many challenging issues in the past year, God had been faithful to the nation and expressed the hope that 2015 would be a blessing.

Rev Fr Kuusah appealed to all the religious bodies to continue to pray for Ghana and also work hard to complement the plans of government to improve the living conditions of the citizenry.

He advised politicians to live lives worth emulating and should indulge in acts that would continue to promote peace and unity to sustain the country’s democracy.

Pastor Kingsley Sarpong, Head Pastor of the Reach Chapel, asked Ghanaians to have compassion for the vulnerable in the society and to help them become productive citizens in nation building.

He said the citizenry should use the Yuletide to reflect on ways of solving problems, which impede national unity and development.

He asked Ghanaians to thank God for a peaceful year and called on the elderly in the society to exhibit love, understanding and patience towards the youth and to assist them to make the right choices.
