Man dumps son in toilet

A 20-year-old man, Jacob Yaw Nkansah, native of Akyem- Asuboa in the Akim Oda Municipality of the Eastern Region, has been arrested by the Oda police for allegedly murdering his 21- month-old baby, George Kwaku Effa.

Reports indicated that the suspect at 10am on Monday allegedly took his little boy in the absence of his wife to the nearby KVIP toilet in the area and threw him into the faeces.

An eyewitness, Leasing Twum, told Daily Guide that the suspect’s wife returned home and started looking for her son when a resident (name withheld) came to tell the mother that she saw her husband heading to the toilet with a bag.

According to the eyewitness, the woman started shouting for help and some of the youth in the area trailed the suspect and spotted him standing behind the public toilet.

When Jacob Yaw Nkansah was arrested and interrogated he confessed that he strangulated the baby and dumped him into a pit. The youth subsequently arrested him and handed him over to the police.

Confirming the incident, ASP Sarfo Peprah, Oda Police Commander, told this paper that the suspect is currently in custody assisting in investigation while the mortal remains of the deceased have been retrieved from the toilet and deposited at the Oda Government Hospital awaiting autopsy.

The police said the suspect, upon interrogation, confessed committing the crime, saying that he was being teased by his friends and some family members that he was too young to have two children and so he decided to kill one of them.
