2015 will be a good year for Ghana – Amb. Henry Smith

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Lt Gen (Rtd.) Joseph Henry Smith is predicting an idyllic New Year for the West African country after a rollercoaster 2014.

He is sanguine that President John Mahama has positioned the country well to reap in 2015, despite the economic challenges it went through this year.

“As we celebrate this season of peace, hope and new beginnings, we give thanks to God for how far He has brought our nation, through all the challenges we have gone through. I am confident that 2015 will be a good year, and Ghana will continue to enjoy peace, freedom, stability and prosperity,” Ambassador Smith said in a statement.

The oil-producing country is grappling with electricity supply due to shortage of gas from Nigeria and low level of water in the Akosombo Dam among other debilitating factors. The Ghana envoy has assured that the government is working around the clock to fix the crisis, adding Ghanaians will smile next year.

“The Government of President Mahama will continue to turn the economy around and also resolve the many challenges that confront us, particularly the energy crisis. I am confident that our dear country will emerge from these challenges stronger than ever and secure a much better and brighter future that our people truly deserve,” the ex-military officer envisaged

“We will take great strides to reach unprecedented heights in the political, security, economic and social front, amidst the global challenges and turmoil.”
