Fmr GES Director commended for hard work

The former Nkoranza North District Director of Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. James Appiah-Kusi, has been commended for his role in improving education in the area

Mr. Matthew Gbaarah, his successor, said this at an end-of-year party organized for the staff by the District Directorate at Busunya.

He said the former Director brought remarkable improvement in education in the district and urged teachers and other stakeholders to redouble their efforts to maintain the impressive record set for the district.

Mr Gbaarah said in spite of challenges facing communities in the area, Mr. Appiah-Kusi encouraged the staff and teachers of the area to work hard, adding that before his retirement in July, Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) results had improved.

He said in 2011, a year after Mr. Appiah-Kusi’s assumption of office as the first Director of Education for the newly-created district, the area recorded 74 percent in BECE.

In 2013 the record improved to 86 percent with further improvement in 2014 at 97.35 percent.

Mr. Seth Badu, Nkoranza North District Deputy Director of Education, said he was grateful to the staff for their unity and cooperation.
