Old pupils of first school urged to support alma mater

Eleven selected basic schools in the Akuapem North Municipality including Akropong Blind School and the Mampong School for the Deaf have celebrated the festival of Nine Lesson and Carols at Akropong Presbyterian Peace Church.

Speaking to the media the resident Minister of the Church, Rev. Kingsley Kumi-Yeboah appealed to old students and relatives of all those who attended the first public school to be built outside the castles, the Akropong Presbyterian Primary School, to come back and support the school.

The Akropong Presbyterian Primary School was established in 1843.

Mrs Gladys Amoako-Yerenkyi, Senior Presbyter of the Akropong Presbyterian Church, Peace Congregation, called for the education of the children in the country to be based on Christian principles.
