Drivers have been asked to heed safety education and respect road traffic regulations to prevent road crashes as the Christmas season approached.
Mr. Joseph Agyemang-Duah, the Offinso branch Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), said they should cooperate with the police to keep the roads safe for everybody.
He made the call when he addressed a meeting held with drivers in the Offinso Municipality at Offinso.
He cautioned against speeding, drunk-driving and poor judgment, saying, they should all take responsibility and work together with other stakeholders to make this year’s Christmas “accident-free”.
Mr. Agyemang-Duah reminded them to see to it that safety devices of their vehicles functioned properly before they put these on the roads.
They could simply not continue to gamble with their lives and that of passengers, he added.
He said the Union would not accept acts of indiscipline on the part of its members and would insist that the right things are done.
