“You must reject partisan tag” – Baako tells OccupyGhana

Social Commentator Kweku Baako Jr has challenged members of pressure group OccupyGhana to resist attempts by some individuals to hang a political tag on them.

According to him, the group has the potential to impact society positively if it maintains its focus and the quality of its protest against misconduct of public officials.

“There is an attempt to attach some crude partisan politics to this group, and this group must reject it. This group must reject that partisan tag,” he told members of the group at an anti-corruption forum in Accra, Thursday.

He advised the group to extend its membership to include people from other critical sectors of the Ghanaian society, including academia and the corporate community.

In his view, more societal changes can be effected if the group stays committed to its campaign against corruption and wastage in public administration.

OccupyGhana has over the last few months been at the forefront of the fight against corruption in the country.

It has threatened to sue the Auditor General if he does not begin prosecuting people cited for financial malfeasance in his annual reports.
