#OccupyGhana not an elitist group – George Andah

A leading member of pressure group – Occupy Ghana – George Andah has dismissed claims that the anti-corruption movement is elitist and class-based.

According to him, such tags are being hanged on the group by individuals who do not understand the objectives of the movement.

The movement which is made up of mainly people believed to be in the middle and upper class of the Ghanaian society has been at the forefront of the fight against corruption over the last few months.

The group has been accused of hiding behind the perception of corruption in the country to attack the Mahama-led administration.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Kafui Dey, Friday, the former Marketing Manager of telecoms giant, MTN, said the claims are baseless.

“Occupy is made up of a rich mix of Ghanaians, it’s not a class system.

“There are a lot of Ghanaians that are listening to what we are saying. We do not necessarily represent a certain class, we represent a certain view and philosophy and irrespective of the segment of society you find yourself in; once you identify with the views, you can come on board,” Andah stated.
