Farmer jailed for defilement

The Agona Swedru Circuit Court presided over by Mrs Abigail Amma Asare has sentenced a 20-year-old farmer Kwaku Nkum to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defilement.

Kwaku Nkum a native of Ajumako Entimbil in the Central Region was charged on his own plea for defiling a 13-year-old school- girl.

Prosecuting, Detective Police Inspector Ernest Darkwa told the court that on September 8, 2014 the victim was returning home from the town at about 9:00 pm. Prosecution said, Nkum spotted the girl and lured her to a nearby streamlet named Duade and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

Police said, the girl reported the incident to the father Kwasi Mireku, a carpenter who also reported to the police.

Prosecution said Kwaku Nkum was arrested and arraigned on November 3.
