A delegation of Chiefs and Elders of the Anlo Traditional Area called on Ghana’s former President, Jerry John Rawlings on Wednesday, to commiserate with him on the loss of his elder brother Isaac Newton Nii Lante Addy.
The 17-man delegation, which was led by the Awadada of Anlo, Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, expressed their condolences to President Rawlings, his mother Madam Victoria Agbotui as well as the wife and children of the late Isaac Addy.
The delegation noted that it was sad to lose a son of their land and promised to offer the necessary support to ensure a fitting farewell for the departed.
President Rawlings expressed the gratitude of the whole family to the royal delegation and used the opportunity to enjoin them to show a lot more interest in political developments in the country and offer constructive suggestions on the way forward.
Other members of the delegation were Togbi Gbordzor III, Dusi Fiaga of Anlo, Togbi Tengey Dzokoto Gligui, Wego Fiaga, Togbi Kporku III, Dufia of Alakple, Togbi Nukpornku, Dufia of Zomayi, Togbi Adaku V, Chief of Sarame and Togbi Buabasa Atorkor.
Also present were Mamaga Miedoafe II of Anyako, Mama Dasewa II of Dzelukope, Mama Biana of Srogboe, Dumegaga Raymond Okudzeto, Dumega C.K. Dewornu (former IGP), Tsiamiga Dzoko, Togbi Edihoo of Xovi, Madam Elizabeth Buabasa of Atorkor, Ms. Comfort Blebu and Mr Francis Hadzah, Director Volta Foundation.
The late Isaac Newton Nii Lante Addy, a former chief scout, passed away on last Saturday at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after a short illness. He was 76 and until his death was theVice Chairman of the Africa Scout Foundation, the Board Chairman of Prestmecom Limited and a consultant to the Happy Kids School; having helped organise activities and the growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He will be buried at the Gethsemane Memorial Garden, Shiashie, Accra, on Friday, November 21, 2014 after Burial Service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Independence Avenue, Accra.
