“Akpeteshie” distillers form task force

The Cooperative Akpeteshie Distillers and Distributors Societies in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region have formed a joint task force to ensure that members honour their tax obligations promptly.

At an emergency meeting at Agona-Nkwanta on Thursday, members of the societies resolved to pay their taxes and other financial obligations towards the district assembly’s development programmes.

Nana Kwaku Sikayena, chairman of the Ghana Co-operative Distillers Society said the taskforce would also ensure that distillers used wholesome ingredients to produce the alcohol.

He called on drivers to avoid charging high fares and using the recent increase in fuel prices as an excuse.
