E/R: Police officer murdered at Tinkong

Police in the Eastern region are investigating the killing of a police officer by unknown assailants over the weekend.

Corporal Mark Azure was murdered while on duty at Tinkon, a village on the Accra-Koforidua highway, Saturday.

It is unclear what necessitated the attack on the police officer.

Speaking to Starr FM, the Public Relations officer for the Eastern regional Police Command, ASP Nketia Yeboah, said “It will be difficult to state exactly what happened because we were not there but we are unravelling it”.

He added: “Preliminary investigations are underway but without the public support we can’t do a lot. Criminals leave in the community so we need information to assist us with information”.
