A Non Governmental Organization To Produce Non-Traditional Export Crops

Winneba Junction (Central Region), 8 Oct., The Ghana branch of Humanitas Aktiv Afrika, a non-governmental organization(NGO), with its headquarters in Germany, has launched a programme to produce non- traditional crops for export. Items to be cultivated include pineapple, pepper, cassava, yam, and vegetables. Mr Stephen Gyimah-Bruku, Chairman of the organization’s board of directors, announced this at Winneba Junction last Saturday at a meeting with the President of the Ghana branch, Mr Samuel Kow Mensah. According to Mr Gyimah-Bruku, the programme is also meant to support government efforts at reducing unemployment among secondary school leavers. He said land for the project has already been acquired and that special consideration will be given to Junior and Senior Secondary School leavers with good passes in Agricultural Science.
