Purchasing clerk remanded for fraudulent breach of trust

A Tarkwa Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded a 59-year-old purchasing clerk, Godwin Tsigbe, into prison custody for fraudulent breach of trust.

His plea was not taken and would re-appear court on November 14.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante that the accused worked with the Wasa Asikuma branch of the Produce Buying Company (PBC).

He said during the 2012/2013 main cocoa season, the accused went to the complainant, Adamu Fuseini, the branch Manager of the company and collected 154,700 Ghana cedis to buy cocoa beans for the Company.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said at the end of the season, the accused person failed to account for 21,624 Ghana cedis and all efforts made by the complainant to retrieve either the cocoa beans or money failed.

He said on September 17 the complainant reported the matter to the Wasa Akropong police and the accused was arrested.
