Vice President donates to Debibi community

Vice-President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has donated 200 bags of cement and 20 packets of roofing sheets to Debibi community in theTain District.

Besides the items valued at about GH¢20,000.00, Vice President Amissah Arthur also gave the traditional authority GH¢5,000.00.

The items will enable victims of a recent rain disaster that collapsed buildings and ripped some houses of their roofs in the community to repair, rebuild and re-roof their houses.

Mr. Kofi Ofori, an aide who presented the items, told the GNA that the donation was to demonstrate the Vice President’s gratitude to the people of the community for their support to him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during Election 2012.

Mr. David Kwame Gyau, Tain District National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator, said five houses collapsed, roofs of 104 houses were ripped off and 593 people were rendered homeless.

Ogyeaman Ampem Kwabena Nangor II, Chief of the town expressed appreciation, saying “We are so surprised and elated at the Vice-President’s gesture because we never expected such a quick response and assistance to the community after the disaster”.
