‘I was comfortable at Ankaful Prison’

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo-Ati-Morkwa in the Central Region, Bossman Osei Hyiaman Jnr., who was jailed for 14 days by a high court in Cape Coast, is said to have been going round the district telling the people that he was given a preferential treatment at the Ankaful Prison.

According to him, he had access to personal computer, refrigerator, television and other gargets that made his stay at the prison very comfortable.

The ex-convict was alleged to have made the revelation at a meeting organized by an NGO – Hope for Future Generation – in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service on October 24, 2014.

In view of that, a group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Twifo-Ati-Morkwa, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to sack him from office.

A release issued by the group and signed by its spokesperson, Philip Yaw Korankye, stated that Mr. Hyiaman had on several occasions exhibited signs of total disgrace and abuse of political power in the district.

The group expressed concern about the way the over 1,500 market women and hawkers were made to pay an amount ranging from GH¢100 to GH¢1,000 each intended to erect sheds and stalls for them but which never materialized.

“Due to the unlawful demolishing of the old market by the DCE and his refusal to allocate some of these women plots that they have paid for at the new market, most of them have been rendered jobless and as a result affected their children’s academic development because it has become extremely difficult for them to pay their fees …,” the group added.

The group mentioned poor road networks that link other districts, poor state of the River Pra bridge, poor sanitation and many more projects which need immediate attention.
