NDP likely to partner with NPP than NDC in 2016 – NDP Chairman

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Dr. Josiah Aryeh has said that his party is more likely to partner with the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 elections than the ruling NDC.

According to the former General Secretary of the ruling NDC, the decision to go with the opposition NPP against his mother party (NDC) is based on the fact that the largest opposition has the most experienced politician and leader in Nana Akufo-Addo coupled with good policies to transform the country positively.

NDP Chairman, Dr. Josiah Aryeh led a delegation on Tuesday to call on the main opposition New Patriotic Party’s flag-bearer Nana Akufo-Addo at his Nima residence in Accra to endorsed his candidature, saying Ghana need a leader of his stature.

Buttressing his point on Oman FM’s Morning Show, the practicing lawyer posited that though it is too early for the NDP to think of a coalition or an alliance with any political party, the party is inclined to consider NPP over the ruling NDC in terms of manifesto and policies.

He maintained that the alliance with NPP will only happen when the two parties have gone for a congress to reach an agreement on the benefit each party stands to gain.

“For now, I will be inclined to say that we are more likely to go with NPP than to go with the NDC. But if we intend to align with any political party, we may have a say and hold a meeting with the party; we will also consider the performance of the political party and its manifesto…if there must be some coalition or alliance, then there must be some sort of agreement between the party’s executives in a congress to decide,” he hinted.
