Veep begins 4-day India tour

Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur is in India for a four-day business visit which would see the second man of the land meet captains of industry especially those associated with Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s) .

Mr. Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur who arrived in the Indian capital on Monday would among other duties brief business executives about the oil and gas industry, water bodies, agricultural lands, mining and tourist potentials of the country in addition to encouraging those with the expertise and funds to invest in the country.

The Vice-President is also in the country to participate in the Indian Economic Forum being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Government of India.

At the Indira Ghandi International Airport to welcome Mr. Amissah-Arthur were all African High Commissioners and Ambassadors accredited to India led by Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Mr. Samuel Panyin Yalley.

The Vice-President is expected to meet chief Executives of agrochemical enterprises, construction, mining and sugar factories.

The Managing Director of the Sugar Company, Mr. Subhash Jamdade, explained he was interested in setting up a sugar processing factory in Ghana but was having problems with the acquisition of land at Asutsuare indicating that having met the Vice-President he was hopeful that the issues could be addressed to facilitate the setting up of the sugar factory.

Other engagements of Mr. Amisaah-Arthur include meeting people who could assist in the establishment of gold refineries and Information Communication Technology platforms.

The Vice-President was also accompanied by Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of State responsible for Private Sector Development as well as Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur.
